Having a camp next to the Allegheny National Forest is very convenient. The ATV trail system at Marienville, PA is one of the best around. There are several different trail heads to chose from with different levels of difficulty depending upon your skill level. The trail systems are very well maintained and patrolled for safety.
The Marienville / Timberline Trail is the main trail head. The main parking lot is located along State Route 66 southwest of Kane, PA and north east of Marienville, PA. The other trail heads are: Penoke, Willow Creek & Rocky Gap.
I thought I would give you some information about the trail system before I got to our ride. The weather was warm and sunny for a change. The dust wasn’t bad as we had a little rain the night before.
About an hour int our ride I started to hear a clunking sound from the rear of my wheeler. We stopped and found that I had lost two bolts that hold the rear equipment carrier to the frame. This appeared to be a real dilemma, so we put our engineering minds together and dug thru our stuff to see what we had for some temporary repairs.
Success! Ty wraps and bungee straps. We patched things together, looked at our maps and found we were not far from a place called DJ’S Russell City Store, Kane, Pa. I remember being there before and taking to the owner. He said if you ever have any problems on the trail, we are here to help you. He came up with two bolts, installed them, shook my hand and said “have a nice day, no charge.” What a great guy!
It’s hard to find nice people like this who are willing to help people. I would like to say thank to you, DJ!
